Guruji Mangal Das

Guruji Mangal das was born as the eldest son of mother Narmada Bai and father Kalayan Das Sapkota in 1953 B.S. (1896 A.D.) in Nepal East district Illam Melbote. Though he hails from an ordinary family background, his contribution to the religion, society and literature have been extraordinary.  Guruji Mangal Das reached India’s state of Assam. Took instruction teachings of Shri Krishna Pranami dharma at his early age from Pitambar Das Maharaj and lived there for further education. After completing padyatara (foot walk) of most of the pilgrimages of India. He reached Haridwar and sat for mediation at the bank of Ganga river. When he received enlightment and inspiration from his hard meditation, he returned back to Nepal to generate awareness and doing social works among people. As a faithful follower of norms and values like religious coordination theory non-violence, compassion and other religious services propounded by Mahamti Prannath of Shri Krishna Pranami Dhrama, Guruji Mangal Das practically translated the true meaning of saying “Service is religion” into reality by establishing orphanages, old age centers, hospitals, schools, medical shops, etc. He has also accomplished various works of literary writings and publications. Guruji Mangal Das who chose to work in West Bengal’s Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Silliguri, Sikkim and Nepal’s eastern part. He died at the age of 89 in 2042 B.S. (1985 AD). There is Mangal memorial Mangaldham in Kalimpong (India) and this place has earned fame of tourism spot now. The postal service department of Nepal feels honored to bring out this commemorative postage stamp in honor of Guruji Mangal Das.

Mother’s name- Smt. Nervadabai

Father’s Name – Shri. Kalyanadasji

Place of Birth – Nepal Illam District Melbote (Gorkhe Jagat)

Clan – Brahmin, Sapkota Family, Kaudinya Gotra. Arrived Assam Rangshali Bihali with his parents at the age of 15 months.

Diksha – Received Tartam Mantra on Vasantha Panchami B.S. 1955

Name – Shri Mangaldasji

Name of his Guru- Shri 108 Pitambardasji Maharaj.

Name of younger brother – Shri Jagannathji.

Father Kalyanadasji left for paramdham abode on the second day of Ram Purnima at that time, Shri Mangaldasji was 4 years old.

At the age of 7 years Yagyopavit performed.

At the age of 12 years, with mother and brother and Shri 108 Rangidasji went for Shri 5 Padmavatipuri dham Yatra and Vairagya bhes receivedfrom Maharaja Shri Hiradasji in Panna.

At the age of 13, started learning Shri Tartam Vani from Maharaja Shri Meherdasji.

At the age of 15 years, Shri Mahamangal Puridham Yatra and received Shri Tartam Vani teaching from Acharya Shri 108 Pitambardasji Maharaj.

At the age of 16, went for Shri 5 Navtanpuri dham yatra and got opportunity to meet Acharya Shri 108 Sukhladasji Maharaj.

From 17 years to 19 years conducted puja in the temples of Ganadevi, Valsad, Ambala.

At the age of 20 years, his guru Shri 108 Pitambardasji Maharajji left for paramdham abode.

From 21 years to 22 years received teachings of Tartam Vani from Acharya Sri 108 Dhanidas ji Maharj at Shri 5 Navtanpuri dham.

From 22 years to 33 years served at temples of Nagaur, Merta (Rajasthan) and renovated them also meditated in caves.

At the age of 34 served and renovated Bahawal Nagar (Punjab) temple.

From 35 years to 38 years went to Char Dham yatra (Badrinath Dham, Dwarika Dham, Rameswaram Dham, Jagannath Dham) on foot.

At the age of 39 years, resided at the banks of Ganga, Haridwar and received enlightment and darshan of Shri Raji.

At the age of 40 years, traveled from Shri 5 Padmawatipuri dham to Kathmandu, Nepal and arrived at Kalimpong. Victorious at Icche Shivalaya shastharta (discussion).

From 40 years to 43 years served and looked after the Shri Krishna Pranami Temple Icche.

1940 AD: At the age of 44 years establishment of Sri Krishna Pranami Temple Kalimpong Bazaar and commencement of awakening work in Kalimpong, Darjeeling, Assam, Sikkim, Eastern Nepal.

1944 AD: At the age of 48 years establishment of Pranami Balika Vidya Mandir (school) Kalimpong.

1947 AD: At the age of 51 years awakening work in Bombay.

1948 AD: At the age of 52 years awakening work in Kashmir.

1952 AD: At the age of 56 years establishment of the hut (kuti).

1956 AD: At the age of 60 years mother Shri Nervadabai left for paramdham abode.

1959 AD: At the age of 63 years establishment of Shri Krishna Pranami Dharmasava.

1962 AD: At the age of 66 years establishment of Shri Krishna Pranami temple in Jui and started religious preaching in Haryana.

1966 AD: At the age of 70 years establishment of Shri Krishna Pranami temple in Silliguri.

1967 AD: At the age of 71 years establishment of Pranami Girl Seva Ashram, Kalimpong.

1969 AD: At the age of 73 Dhulabari, Budhbare, Shanishchari, Duvagadi visit and establishment of temples.

1971 AD: At the age of 75 establishment of Shri Krishna Pranami Temple, Salakpur Nepal. Brother Shri Jagannathji left for paramdham abode.

1972 AD: At the age of 76 establishment of Guruji Pranami Mission Trust and the establishment of Shri Prannath Brahmacharya Ashram and Sanskrit Mahavidyalaya in Siliguri.

1979 AD: At the age of 83 establishment of Shri Krishna Pranami Vidya Niketan School Siliguri and organized Shri Prannath Trishatabdi Festival.

1980 AD: At the age of 84 establishment of Shri Krishna Pranami Temple Muktidham in Itahari, Nepal.

1981 AD: At the age of 85 on the occasion of Sri Mannijananda Chaturtha Shatabdi (Fourth Centenary) organized Shri 108 Parayana in Sri Krishna temple Siliguri.

1982 AD: At the age of 86 establishment of Shri Krishna Pranami Temple Bhiwani, Haryana.

1983 AD: At the age of 87 establishment of Shri Krishna Pranami Temple Barmek, Darjeeling, Jaigaon and Veerpada.

1984 AD: At the age of 88 organized Shri 108 Parayana Mahayagya at Shri Krishna Pranami Temple Bhiwani.

1 May 1985 at 7.30 pm he left for paramdham gaman
